Mother-Daughter Getaway to Cabo

This trip was all about relaxation and quality mother-daughter time. My mom and I live on opposite sides of the country from one another and take every opportunity to see each other we can. This was my fifth trip to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico and each time it doesn't disappoint. Sitting at the tip of the Baja California Peninsula it is the southernmost city on the Peninsula known for its calm, blue waters, outdoor activities and nightlife. Weather in April in Cabo was nothing short of perfect. Each day was sun filled in the high 70s. In direct sunlight it feels much hotter, but at night the wind picks up and the temperatures cool down so a jacket layer is necessary.

We spent five days just laying in the sun, reading books and letting go of all other expectations and worries that we left behind. Mid-vacation we took a break from the sun and pampered ourselves with a relaxing massage. We stayed at Cabo Villas Beach Resort which is right on the ocean and walking distance to plenty of restaurants.

Other than relaxing during the day, we treated ourselves to good dinners each night. You can get a variety of good food in Cabo. One consistent ingredient at almost every restaurant is fresh seafood, which is perfect since I love seafood! Here were my top three restaurants we ate at:

Bar Esquina is located at the Bahia Hotel & Beach House and serves Mediterranean cuisine with a Mexican influence. The atmosphere is vibrant with open air seating and live music every night. We ended up splitting some tapas style dishes that were delicious, especially the lobster sliders. I would suggest making reservations. We didn't make reservations and were able to get a seat the high-top tables in the bar area, but it would have been nice to sit in the outside dining area on a beautiful evening.

Restaurante Los Tres Gallos offers classic Mexican dishes with outdoor seating and an open kitchen. It is a little off the beaten path, but the pink doors at the entrance can't be missed. Definitely make a reservation. We were able to get a same day reservation, but they mainly seemed to be seating people with a reservation and there wasn't really a bar area for those that did not have a reservation.

Tres Sirenas is a new restaurant that was right across the street from our hotel. It is a new restaurant from the same team that created Edith's and the Office which are two very well known restaurants in Cabo. The restaurant isn't as well known yet, but I think will be! The food was delicious! We had a lobster caesar salad that was prepared fresh at our table (very common in Cabo).
