Day Date to Newberg, OR

My husband and I took a drive 30 minutes south of Portland to the cute little town of Newberg, OR. The town is surrounded by the Willamette Valley wineries making it the perfect destination for a day date. We started off at a local coffee shop called Chapters that also happens to be a book store.

The purpose for our trip to Newberg was to check out my friends newly opened plant shop, Uflora. As someone that does not have a green thumb, I was a little nervous about visiting a shop dedicated to plants. The shop is just off the main street in a fun yellow building. The shop is long and thin, but full of beautiful greenery. In addition to the plants, the shop also carries puts for potting your newly purchased plants and prints by local artists. We ended up purchasing three new plants to try our hand at indoor plants. The greenery brings some fresh life into our house!

After visiting Uflora, we found a local market to pick up a late lunch. We stopped at Red Hills Market in Dundee, OR just south of Newberg. The little market sells mouth-watering sandwiches and fire grilled pizza. Everything is locally sourced and since its in the Oregon wine country they sell local wines.  We each had one of the sandwiches with a side of the most delicious wedged potato fries I have ever eaten! If you every find yourself in Portland, I would definitely suggest getting out of the city and exploring the little towns that make up Oregon wine country.
